Lee Green: President’s Message 2011 – 2012
Chef/Instructor
David Thompson Secondary School Cafeteria
Vancouver, BC
Welcome to past, present and future members of the Canadian Chef Educator’s Association.
Having attended the recent successful conference in Kitchener, Ontario organized by Susanne Mikler and Rudy Florio of Liaison College, I have the honour of acting as your new President for the next 2-year term. My main goal in the Association will be to promote the important collegial benefits (and fun!) of collaborating nationally with other Canadian Chef Educators, Culinary school Directors, Assistants and/or Kitchen Managers in Secondary or Post-Secondary Culinary Arts/Cook Training teaching programs.
I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Associate and Corporate members who are active or interested in the promotion of Culinary Arts/Cook Training.
By travelling as members to the fabulous yearly CCEA conferences, you will observe first hand what is happening in the varied regions and provinces across Canada. You’ll discover new trends, ideas, products, teaching methods and processes and make vital connections with others within the farm, food and hospitality industry. Your involvement with the CCEA will deepen your instructional value by enriching your culinary students’ learning opportunities and opening doors for their further studies and achievement in this challenging profession.
To achieve this worthy goal I ask that you renew your membership or take out a new membership and get involved in sharing and strengthening the power and influence that a dedicated group of culinary professionals can wield in shaping the health and enjoyment of a nation that must eat! I and the Executive welcome your input and suggestions; feel free to contact us with your thoughts and ideas.
Thank-you for the opportunity to represent such a hardworking group of individuals, I look forward to meeting you all at the next exciting conference hosted by The Culinary Institute of Canada at Holland College http://www.hollandcollege.com/culinary_institute_of_canada in Prince Edward Island in June 2012.
Ciao!
